Level 5 Management Apprentice
When I left school I was a waitress but over the years I have worked in various organisations as a Case Manager, Service Delivery Manager, Customer Service Advisor & Business Coordinator.
I joined Integral three and half years ago as a PPP/PFI Office Manager. My team and I ensure that the engineers are aware of the priorities of jobs that are logged, that these are closed to specification and if further issues arise, that these are reported in line with Compliance.
I enjoy everything about my role and am very passionate about getting things right, root cause analysis and processes. If something goes wrong I like to discover the reason so we can put a plan in place to remedy this.
Prior to starting the apprenticeship, I had completed Prince 2 which is a project management methodology that looks at critical factors such as scope, timescale, risk etc, but I had no other previous qualifications or training.
In future I would very much like to become an Operations Manager within JLL/Integral and so was pleased to get the opportunity to join the Level 5 Apprenticeship scheme and learn new skills. It covers all aspects of Operational Management including business techniques and leadership styles that are vital for delivering results.
Access for all
It is great that apprenticeships have been opened up to all age groups and the learning process allows for your previous experience to be aligned with the knowledge requirements.
To anyone considering this route, I would say don’t think this is impossible, or that you are too old/young/busy. You will be given time away from work to complete the course and the support you need during training from dedicated coaches.
This industry is traditionally male dominated but more women are gradually entering the business. I hope that they too will take the opportunity to access training, whether that is apprenticeships or other personal development courses, so that we move forward together as a successful and diverse organisation.
